Mapping of porcine homolog of human chromosome 17 in our laboratory is performing with the use of pig-mink somatic cell hybrids which were established by N.S. Zhdanova, N.M. Astakhova, and E.V. Ivanova. The use of small number of monochromosomal hybrids allow us to map genes and microsatellites to different regions of porcine chromosome 12. I make the Southern blot analysis, consensus primer design and PCR analysis of the clones. My latest results in pig gene mapping are presented at the following picture. The results are in complete correlation with zoo-FISH of the chromosome. But the order of genes in pigs and humans is different in some cases.

Mapping of shrew chromosome hn is performing with the use of shrew-rodent somatic cell hybrid panel which was established by S. Pack, N. Zhdanova, L. Matyakhina, M. Kolonin. The panel allow to map all shrew chromosomes but not the chromosomal arms. By the other way the zoo-FISH analysis of shrew genome made by Dr. Hameister has shown that a part of h arm of shrew chromosome hn corresponds to whole human chromosome 17. PCR analysis using consensus and geterologous primers allow me currently map 5 genes to chromosome hn, preliminary h arm.
